Comment Before Faving, Plz. by ~Nocturia:iconNocturia:

Artist's Comments

Made in a sort of indirect response to a stamp I've seen here on dA, claiming rather rudely that, "I'll fave without commenting, deal with it." A lot of people favorite without commenting, and I, for one, am against that. This is why, unless you upload like more than twenty pieces in mass and I would get to sound very repetitive, I either comment and fave, or don't comment and fave at all. o.o; But, however, realize what the stamp says. "So am asking you to comment before faving." Not demanding, asking. I've had people get on my case before just because I stated in the Artist's Comments that I would very much like the person planning to 'fave and run' the piece to drop a comment. It's like it's a sin to do that or something.

The meaning of this stamp? You're entitled to your own opinion, but if the artist asks in the deviation that you drop a simple ten second comment before faving, please, do it. Not many artists ask that, so it doesn't really take that much out of your day. :\ It's just common courtesy to do that, and, which, by the looks of a lot of the stamps concerning 'fave and run's, there's not a lot of that there.

Please, respect the artist, and give the feedback they so very well deserve.

Thanks! Yeah, it's just sad that a lot of people don't seem to really care about the feelings of the artist when they state directly in the Artist's Comments that they'd like a comment before a fave. Although a lot of me has to think that deals with people just not reading the Artist's Comments. Which is a whole new stamp entirely. xD;

Yeeah, I get annoyed when people fav without commenting, but I'm afraid if I put "if you fav, please comment" in my Artist's Comments that I won't get the fav at alll Dx

Hahaha. I'm guilty of not reading comments, but I always comment myself if I like it. It boosts your stats to comment, but not :+fav:ing. So I really don't understand the benefit of it. I have an abnormally low amount of :+fav:'s.

Hah hah, you probably will. As I stated in a response to a different commenter, I think a lot of people don't read the Artist's Comments, even when I put something in bold which clearly means something important, it's all... "Lawl, durp." >.<;

I comment and fave. It's just what it states: Commenting gives you the ability to show what you liked in the other person's artwork, thus telling the artists to stick to it, or, if a critique is needed, what they need to improve, while a favorite is for if you liked the piece well enough. Sadly, I think a lot of people use the favorites as a way to get out of commenting. :/

I go through thousands upon thousands of stamps and I try to read every comment to see what the artist would like me to do so i can show my appreciation of a stamp. Some ask for :+fav: some as for comments, some ask for both...those who ask for both TEND TO BE exceptionally RUDE. I don't mind commenting if they ask politely, a simple "could you please fave and comment? Thank you" is nice but I've seen one stamp with "IF YOU HAVE TO FAVE AND NOT COMMENT GET OFF dA, BITCH!" Yea, asking is better than demanding you do such. I'm less willing to do as they say when they DEMAND me too, I'm more inclined to do as they ask when they ask politely.
Personally? I don't care who faves and who comments. I'm laid back enough to accept both as compliments, but i prefer faves over comments, because comments TEND TO BE ruder than shit. Then i gotta go through, block people, hide comments, shit like that. I want constructive criticisms not "dis stuff sux" yea that's gonna really help me improve...bah.
anyways i just wanted to add my 2 cents.
