Comment Before Faving, Plz. by Nocturia Comment Before Faving, Plz. by Nocturia
Made in a sort of indirect response to a stamp I've seen here on dA, claiming rather rudely that, "I'll fave without commenting, deal with it." A lot of people favorite without commenting, and I, for one, am against that. This is why, unless you upload like more than twenty pieces in mass and I would get to sound very repetitive, I either comment and fave, or don't comment and fave at all. o.o; But, however, realize what the stamp says. "So am asking you to comment before faving." Not demanding, asking. I've had people get on my case before just because I stated in the Artist's Comments that I would very much like the person planning to 'fave and run' the piece to drop a comment. It's like it's a sin to do that or something.

The meaning of this stamp? You're entitled to your own opinion, but if the artist asks in the deviation that you drop a simple ten second comment before faving, please, do it. Not many artists ask that, so it doesn't really take that much out of your day. :\ It's just common courtesy to do that, and, which, by the looks of a lot of the stamps concerning 'fave and run's, there's not a lot of that there.

Please, respect the artist, and give the feedback they so very well deserve.

This stamp is awesome =D
I saw that other stamp and I felt the same way. I love comments over faves because I work so hard on my characters and it's nice to hear what people think of their personality and backstory and look. Thanks for making this :hug:

...I love you. XDD

Even if I don't know you LOL

Anyway, I totally agree with you.

Even a one word comment is nice, and I mean, at least they don't fav without saying anything at all -_-

Everyone is entitled to the occassional 'fav and run', I'll admit. Because not all of us have the time to do it....but doing it ALL the time? Pfft. That's just annoying. D:

People get mad at me because I now 'demand' people to comment before faving. Why? Because I'm just that annoyed with it. And no-one seemed to listen to my ';Please' :P

Some people say 'Oh I'll sound like a broken record because I say the same thing every time'....personally, I REALLY don't care if they do it. It shows that they really like how you do say....I dunno. Paws or fur for example. XD

But yeah. XDD Very well said, m'dear. ^_^

(I'm gonna use this...do you want me to fav it so you know I'm using it?)

WELL I LOVE YOU BACK MOAR for actually agreeing with me. xD; Plus you have cute stuffs. <3

Yeah, I agree. This was made on the spur of the moment, but I made it because I realized how many people 'fave and run.' xD; And no, you don't have to fave if you don't wanna... But using it would be uber appreciated. xD!

im guilty of fave and run!! though i only really do it to people i dont know >.< and if i have something to say >_> and i usually dont have much to say since i totally phail at giving feedback besides "looks cool!" and "nice pic!" and "i really like this!" and then people complain about comments like that XP i watch too many people to give comments to all the time every deviation T_T id like to, but i also like to do things other than spend time on DA...

Amen. I really understand how you feel about this...

Although I admit, I'm guilty of the occasional 'fave and run.' Usually, though, when I do that, it's a really popular artist with 447982679587255657.6 comments on their picture already.

But I'm still not proud of it. XD

I really respect you for being more polite about it than many people who are all "IF U FAV MAH ARTZ WITHOWT COMMNTIN I'M GUNNA BEAT U WITH A TOASTER." ^^;

xD;;; I figure that approach isn't going to get you anywhere, plus it's just not right... Tempting sometimes, but just not right, hah hah. I'm not that type of person.

What I'm struggling with mainly is commenting on artwork in general. Since my stress level has been through the roof that my reletives have been living with me, I'm not much in the mood to comment on anything. xD;

I try my best never to just favorite and not comment. I feel that... Since this is an art site, that is meant for artist's to encourage other artists, I would only expect a comment to be more helpful than a favorite, thus why I genuinely accept a comment over a favorite.

I go through thousands upon thousands of stamps and I try to read every comment to see what the artist would like me to do so i can show my appreciation of a stamp. Some ask for :+fav: some as for comments, some ask for both...those who ask for both TEND TO BE exceptionally RUDE. I don't mind commenting if they ask politely, a simple "could you please fave and comment? Thank you" is nice but I've seen one stamp with "IF YOU HAVE TO FAVE AND NOT COMMENT GET OFF dA, BITCH!" Yea, asking is better than demanding you do such. I'm less willing to do as they say when they DEMAND me too, I'm more inclined to do as they ask when they ask politely.
Personally? I don't care who faves and who comments. I'm laid back enough to accept both as compliments, but i prefer faves over comments, because comments TEND TO BE ruder than shit. Then i gotta go through, block people, hide comments, shit like that. I want constructive criticisms not "dis stuff sux" yea that's gonna really help me improve...bah.
anyways i just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I don't ask for both. :D I wholeheartedly prefer a comment over a favorite, so if someone commented and didn't favorite, it's all fine with me. It's just I have asked in the past, politely mind you, that on certain pieces, ';please comment before faving,' for whatever the reasong may be. The whole point of this piece is to discourage rudeness and be genuinely polite and use common courtesy, and the 'DEAL WITH IT' is not meant to be stated in a rude manner, but instead, it's a sort of semi-mock to those who do feel so inclined as to be rude. :D I understand where you're coming from, but I can safely say you must have had worst luck on that, because people who comment on my artwork are very nice.

Hah hah, I'm very open minded, very straight forward, but not in an offensive way, as seen by this stamp. <3 I completely understand that some people don't comment before adding it as a favorite, and I am aware of that, despite I don't accept it. It's just, when people decide to :+fav: it anyways, despite for, whatever reason, the artist kindly asked and gave an explanation as to why they wanted a comment over a favorite... It seems to show some sort of disrespect. This stamp is aimed to show that it is just polite to drop a comment, so long as the artist is being polite. If they're being rude, well, don't reward rudeness with politeness, right? xD;

ah that's too true!!
it's good to be both polite and straight forward. I'm both myself but i try to be logical too, try not to let my opinion completely override my responses. That way it doesn't seem that i'm believing something without some basis.

Yeeah, I get annoyed when people fav without commenting, but I'm afraid if I put "if you fav, please comment" in my Artist's Comments that I won't get the fav at alll Dx

Hah hah, you probably will. As I stated in a response to a different commenter, I think a lot of people don't read the Artist's Comments, even when I put something in bold which clearly means something important, it's all... "Lawl, durp." >.<;

Thanks! Yeah, it's just sad that a lot of people don't seem to really care about the feelings of the artist when they state directly in the Artist's Comments that they'd like a comment before a fave. Although a lot of me has to think that deals with people just not reading the Artist's Comments. Which is a whole new stamp entirely. xD;

Hahaha. I'm guilty of not reading comments, but I always comment myself if I like it. It boosts your stats to comment, but not :+fav:ing. So I really don't understand the benefit of it. I have an abnormally low amount of :+fav:'s.

I comment and fave. It's just what it states: Commenting gives you the ability to show what you liked in the other person's artwork, thus telling the artists to stick to it, or, if a critique is needed, what they need to improve, while a favorite is for if you liked the piece well enough. Sadly, I think a lot of people use the favorites as a way to get out of commenting. :/
